Critically acclaimed artist, Noah Cyrus, released her newest single “Don’t Put It All On Me” with none other than Fleet Foxes. The Nashville-born artist has completely embraced the country sound, and that’s undoubtedly true for this latest track. Cyrus co-wrote “Don’t Put It All On Me” along with brother Braison. The two were especially excited to work with one of their favorite bands, the Grammy-nominated Fleet Foxes.

The dreamy track follows the journey of longing clearly through a heavenly instrumental. The song opens with a beautiful piano theme that’s continuous throughout, while Cyrus and Robin Pecknold (lead singer of Fleet Foxes) harmonize over the simple yet effective instrumental. The two share the entirety of the vocal line, never splitting apart for a single lyric. This was a simple way of representing the tether Cyrus feels to the subject of the song. “I can’t look away when I’m watching you move in slow motion.”

At the bridge, the instrumental swells with the introduction of drums, then an explosion of strings and guitar, representative of a sense of freedom the two feel from the subject. “By the look in your eye, I can tell that you no longer need me.”

Additionally, “Don’t Put It All On Me’s” release was accompanied by a music video directed by Luis Villanueva. The other-worldly video encapsulates the vibes of the song by combining fantasy and nature. The narrative follows Cyrus waking up deep in the woods and being lead to a light by a white horse.

Nonetheless, the video and track are a pillar in Cyrus’ new era after releasing collaborations with Vance Joy and Orville Peck. Her next album is long awaited after the release of The Hardest Part in 2022. “I want my music to offer fans a sense of comforting, peaceful nostalgia.” “Don’t Put It All On Me’s” impeccable artistry and personal connection has fans excited for what Noah Cyrus has in store.
