No Longer Being an “Enemy” to the Heart: Jimmy & Verona’s Newest Triumphant Single

“Enemy” is an uplifting and nostalgic single by electro-pop duo Jimmy & Verona. Jimmy & Verona envision the future with sounds from the past, combining 80’s inspired Nostalgic Pop with a contemporary feel. The London based Scottish and Slovenian duo, experienced in Eurovision performances and UK rock n’ roll venues, provide retro drum sounds with a unique blend of guitars and synths. “Enemy” in particular follows previous releases such as 2022’s “Hasta La Vista,” a triumphant break-up song shining a light on having the confidence to move forward.

Though the single is titled “Enemy,” only giving a first glance can give a slightly misguided message, as the song itself actually carries the heartfelt revelation on wanting to protect the heart from falling in love, but taking the leap in allowing it to regardless. Written, produced and mixed from a home studio, the track is both a smooth, upbeat and sparkling anthem beautifully highlighting the value of “me, myself and I.” This is seen in all elements of the track, from the vocals to the electronic melody blended seamlessly with dreamy and artistic added elements.

Letting yourself be vulnerable to others is oftentimes a very scary experience. There will be moments, however, when it will be worth it to let yourself be open and honest to others on how you truly feel. Jimmy and Verona acknowledge this and more throughout the song, more specifically in the lines “but this time there’s no one to stop me, I’m ready to take your bait and change my fate.” Overall, “Enemy” gives the perfect reminder of the pleasure in having the confidence in letting yourself be open others, and would be a great addition to your inspiration playlists.
