It’s house week with New Music Friday Dance. Discover some of the best recent releases:

1. Layton Giordani, Linney, Sarah de Warren: “Act of God”

Layton Giordani, Linney, and Sarah de Warren made a sensual return with “Act of God.” This laid-back tech-house track outlines the deep feelings of all EDM lovers, stating “Rhythm is an act of god.” The harmonic variations of the vocals stand out against the relatively minimal instrumental, drawing attention to the metaphorical lyrics. The drops start subtle, increasing in impact towards the end.

2. Prunk, Hot Since 82: “Heat – Hot Since 82 Remix”

Producers Prunk teamed up with British DJ Hot Since 82 for a remix of “Heat.” The speaking sample that reverbs and repeats across the track invokes a hypnotic energy, saying “To the music of this nightmusic has changed lives and made a difference.” The house beat features some playful disco elements that add a lightheartedness against the eerie alarm-like synth.

3. Gorgon City: “5AM At Bagleys”

Based in England, duo Gorgon City released their new single “5AM At Bagleys.” This tech-house track mesmerizes the listener with sparkling, clear piano, shouting adlibs, and a softly “ahhh”-ing vocal sample turned extraterrestrial through filters. The chops and stutters enhance the equally flashy visualizer, together creating a surreal world of stimulation.

4. Matt Faulk, Dances: “WHOA!”

Vegas DJ Matt Faulk joined producer Dances for their new single, “WHOA!”. Nothing gets people moving like deep house and a deep voice. The two artists added flavor to this party-starting combination through dynamic production, featuring both watery and sharp bass timbres, a distorted brass-sounding motif, and airy, quick laser sounds.

5. Jínzz, UnderWater Project, L!LY: “Felt Down”

India-based DJ Jínzz and France-based UnderWater Project & L!LY created a global dance hit with “Felt Down.” If there was only one word to describe the instrumental, it would be round. The overall lack of hard edges creates a glowing and inviting atmosphere, despite the repetition of the phrase “felt down again.” This track is a reminder of the happy pill that house can be.
