Discover this week’s new drops from New Music Friday!

1. Finn Wolfhard- “Objection!”

Multi-faceted artist, actor, and director Finn Wolfhard releases “Objection!”, the latest single from his debut solo album Happy Birthday. The track features bright acoustic guitars and layered vocals exploring the complexities of relationships. The track follows his previous singles “Choose the latter” and “Trailers after dark”, offering a glimpse of what his highly anticipated upcoming album is set to be: focusing on maturity, loss, growth, and much more complexities. Finn will also be accompanying the album release with a sold out Objection! Tour, which kicks off June 5th in Los Angeles. Happy Birthday is set to release on June 6th.

2. The Pretty Wild- “Omens”

Boundary-pushing duo The Pretty Wild drops “Omens”, a track described by vocalist Jyl as “an anthem for those done performing”. The track confronts the masks we wear and the courage to choose authenticity over illusion. Driven by energetic syncopation and electronic-rock elements, “Omens” captures the rage and power of breaking free through both vocalists lyricism and emotionality. Catch The Pretty Wild opening on the Hell Hath No Fury Tour with In This Moment this summer, with tickets on sale May 9.

3. UMI, 6LACK- “HARD TRUTHS”

Breakout R&B sensation UMI released “HARD TRUTHS”, featuring Grammy-nominated R&B powerhouse, 6LACK. The single pairs UMI’s enchanting vocals with 6LACK’s sensational delivery in a dynamic, vulnerable, lyrical exploration. Their contrasting styles blends to a perfect harmony as the artists navigate themes of self-deception, materialism, and the quest for authentic connection. The track’s subtle percussion and dreamy sonic layers beautifully build to emotional peaks that underscore the song’s vulnerability.

4. Preoccupations- “Ill At Ease”

Post-punk band Preoccupations deliver their most sonically expansive album to date with Ill at Ease. The title track, “Ill At Ease”, maintains their signature sound while drawing from 80’s and 90’s nostalgia. The track, with its accompanying music video, delves into themes of existential dread and shared human anxiety, beautifully encapsulating the band’s signature post-punk sentiments.

5. Isaiah Stone- “Soul Exchange”

Rising Atlanta-based multi-instrumentalist Isaiah Stone drops “Soul Exchange”, a swaggering, funk-infused track, channels both vulnerability and defiance through Isaiah hypnotic vocals. The track perfectly showcases Isaiah’s mastery at genre bending, with gritty guitar riffs, soulful vocal runs, and funk-driven rhythms coalescing into a sound that feels both timeless and fiercely original.
