There’s a new record label on the rise, and it’s promising to put artists first. Read more to find out all the details.

As the landscape of music begins to change and evolve, artists constantly redefine and adapt to new atmospheres. Papercut Recordings is a new home for artists, by artists. It’s an avenue for the musicians tired of the same pitfalls in the industry, and are too fed up to compromise.

Papercut Recordings is the collaborative effort of longtime friends and creative powerhouses, Leo Valeri and Ryan O’Leary. Built on the principle of equitable partnerships, the company pairs transparent funding with expertise. They offer artists real support from people who understand the grind firsthand.

Here is what Valero and O’Leary have to say,

If there’s one thing we’ve seen enough of, it’s seeing new talent get steamrolled. Our mission is to return creative control and power to the people who earned it—the artists. We provide fair, transparent funding paired with real-world expertise from people who are metal musicians themselves, living and breathing the scene alongside you. It’s about partnership, respect, and building something authentic together.

BLACKSHAPE and LIMBS are already hopping on this bandwagon as the first signings. BLACKSHAPE is known for their cerebral compositions, blurring the edges of math rock and post-metal. LIMBS are post-hardcore disruptors known for their searing live presence and emotionally charged precision.

For Valeri, the label is an extension of his decade-long evolution as an artist and entrepreneur. As the founder of Shibori Threads, he built one of the most recognizable alternative streetwear brands in the music scene. It’s known for its signature tie-dye and collaborations with global powerhouses like Ghost, Spiritbox, and Konami, among others.

Of course, O’Leary also brings his own deep wealth of experience. A music industry entrepreneur and talent scout with a knack for finding and developing rising stars. As the bassist and writer for metalcore titans Fit For A King, Ryan helps craft multiple charting albums while staying deeply connected to what fans want and where the scene is headed. As a result, he garners millions of streams and attracts a growing global fanbase.

This is a great step toward making the music industry a space that benefits labels, artists, and listeners equally. When musicians have fewer logistics to worry about, they can focus on new, awesome music. Stay tuned for what new music is dropping next!
