New Music Friday this weekend is a journey through various eras and genres; a potpourri of stimulation. Hear these tracks before everyone else:

1. Allie X: “Bon Voyage”

True to musical identity, Allie X releases “Bon Voyage,” an indie-pop record with a notable 1980s sparkle. In between an extra warm, springy guitar line and an eerie choral line, she croons beautifully, emphasized by tasteful reverb. The track is a little teaser of what’s to come on the upcoming deluxe version of her recent album, Girl With No Face.

2. Trash Boat: “Liar Liar”

Ready to thrash? The British rock band Trash Boat delivers raw intensity with “Liar Liar.” The melody imitates the childish “K-I-S-S-I-N-G” rhyme, giving it a completely different, growling sound. Although it is not made clear who, the lyrics seem to refer to a political figure who lies without shame, blaming everybody except for themselves.

3. The HU: “The Trooper”

Mongolian folk metal band The HU ignites the weekend energy with “The Trooper.” In the music video, they are seen playing a unique mixture of traditional, cultural instruments and modern instruments. This includes the way they use their voices, inspired by Mongolian throat singing. For metal fans looking to branch out, look no further.

4. Kat Robichaud: “Vampire Love”

The innovative Kat Robichaud returns with “Vampire Love,” a glossy indie-pop track with a dreamy energy. Through various vampire-related metaphors, she paints a fantastical picture of all-encompassing love. Her full, deep vocal tone expertly delivers the dramatic ambiance of the track. The cover art matches wonderfully as well, done by Glasse’s very own Helana Michelle!

5. April Fools: “Take Me Home”

Indie quintet April Fools released their debut single “Take Me Home.” It has a charming, 2000s garage-band feel, with slightly fuzzy vocals, complementing the gravel-y guitar that carries the track. The chorus is very real and relatable, pleading “Take me home, I hate this fucking bar / Take me home, I don’t need to know who you are.”
