Nashville’s Beloved B-EAST Falls During Unexpected Tornado

Earlier this morning, while the sun was still down, an unexpected tornado arrived to Nashville, TN. Around midnight, an alert was dispatched through iPhones saying that the city was going to severly flood – mentioning nothing about a Tornado (thanks, Apple). The sky got particularly dark quickly, and then was luminated by big strikes of lightning, supported by very strong winds. Once the tornado touched down, it started tearing through Germantown, making its way over to East Nashville (as seen below). The tornado did not stop there though, and continued all the way through East Nashville to surrounding areas such as Mount Juliet. IMG_9869.JPG

Many homes and businesses faced extreme damage, and several shelters were opened throughout the night to provide people a safe place to go. The first one to open was at the Nashville Farmer’s Market, which eventually relocated to Centennial Sportsplex.

In the midst of all this tragedy, Nashville suffered several significant losses. One of the most hurtful being the loss of The Basement East. The B-EAST has hosted so many concerts for years, providing everyone a safe place to make great memories. It’s with heavy hearts we share it’s downfall during this storm. Luckily – all the employees are okay as they were able to take shelter in the basement of The Basement East. We hope to see this incredible venue rise from the ashes in the future!

UPDATE: You can drop off supplies at Zeal Church to aid those in need.
