Matt McKnzi Shares Infectious and Emotional Single, “Dying Breed”

The moment Matt McKnzi witnessed the performance of Britney Spears’ “Oops I Did It Again” on the VMAs that he knew what he wanted to do with his life. With art, music, and performing coming naturally to this musician, it was a second nature decision.

McKnzi’s journey starts with debut single, “Dying Breed.” Sharing a personal journey of his own, in battling self-destructive tendencies, we see wide open and raw the experience first-hand in listening to this single.

I hated me- whole-heartedly believing I didn’t deserve love. I carried a TON of shame. Dying Breed is centered around that shame, and around our inability to let people in. At its core, the track is about owning your truth–no matter what that looks like, no matter what the consequences are.

In sharing this small and vulnerable scope of his life experience, the infectious beat contrasts the emotional and catharsis-inducing lyricism, paired with vocals that fully enrich the time capsule of the artist’s journey.
