In celebration of the band’s second album’s release, Love and Death offered fans a unique streaming experience performed in Nashville. Since the release of the band’s debut album, Between Here and Lost, we’ve heard little from them in the last eight years, until the release of their album, Perfectly Preserved, earlier today. The performance featured guest appearances of Lacey Sturm, Keith Wallen (Breaking Benjamin vocals & guitar), and Matty Mullins (Memphis May Fire vocals). While playing tracks from both of their full-length albums, they provided the opportunity for their audience to connect with their music in the middle of lockdowns.
Introducing each song, a dictionary definition of the song title or theme of the tracks were unveiled before Welch buried his audience in a world of heavy sound and vocals, decked out in a glimmering plaid blazer. JR Bareis provided backup vocals and crisp, clean vocals, and throughout the performance, the collaborating musicians in the new album made an appearance. Keith Wallen played guitar and sang harmonizing vocals, Lacey Sturm joined in for a cover of “Let Me Love You,” and Matty Mullins participated in the conclusion of the livestream with vocals.
Along with the Punk Goes Pop vibes in, “Let Me Love You,” Love and Death played a cover of Devo’s, “Whip It,” featuring the signature hat in their music video.
Overall, the atmosphere was positive and filled with hope while being unafraid of rocking us to our core.
