From avid pop music enjoyers to just-turn-on-the-radio individuals, there’s no doubt that Katy Perry‘s music has reached millions of listeners worldwide. The disco pop queen recently released her newest single, “LIFETIMES,” on August 8, 2024. Infused with themes of eternal love, Katy sheds light on the kinds of relationships that are truly timeless.

LIFETIMES is a song about eternal love. It’s about finding that one deep and satisfying love of your life. A soulmate doesn’t always have to come in the form of a partner – it can come in all different ways, a child, a best friend, a pet. For me it is my daughter – I ask her every night, ‘Will you find me in every lifetime?’ She says yes, and I feel found. You’ll find each other, over and over again, for lifetimes.” – Katy Perry

The song is taken from Katy’s upcoming album, 143, set to be released on September 20 via Capitol Records. The eleven-track album marks her sixth studio release and is a reference to the code, “I love you.” The opening track, “WOMAN’S WORLD,” was released as a single on July 11, 2024.

The Music Video

The official music video for “LIFETIMES” illuminates the blissful nature of being truly in love with someone, whether that be romantic, platonic or familial love. Directed by Stillz and shot on the gorgeous island of Ibiza, Spain, Katy is seen lounging on boats, riding motorcycles and dancing on beaches. The summertime video made its broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU, MTV Biggest Pop and on the Paramount Times Square billboards.

Lyricism

“LIFETIMES” is, above all, a song meant to emphasize the beauty of everlasting love. With a recurring piano motif, catchy club beats and repeated use of the words “love” and “eternity,” the song is both light-hearted and deeply passionate.

I know you feel it

Can you believe it?

I’m gonna love you ’til the end

And then repeat it
