Formed in 2012, nu-metal band from Arizona, Love and Death, just released a new single, titled “Down,” their first release of 2020 toward upcoming album, Perfectly Preserved.

This is the first new track we have heard from the project since 2016; showing us that the genre of uplifting heavy metal seems to be on the rise again. The band currently features Brian “Head” Welch of Korn (lead vocals, guitarist), JR Bareis (backing vocals, guitarist), Michael Valentine (bass), and Dan Johnson (drums); giving us a powerful set of practiced musicians.

When referring to the choice of the band’s name, Welch states: “The name Love and Death was chosen because love and death are the two most significant things you can go through in life” [1].

“Down” is the gritty clean vocals, heavy electric guitar, and raw screams loosing from their cage throughout the song. The single is unhinged and just what metalheads and hard rock addicts have been craving more of over the last five years.

I have been thinking this throughout the majority of 2020, and finally feel it’s safe to say after hearing this track, worthy of playing on repeat: I am sensing a revival in the rock music world, with Welch and his crew being one of the keystones to the revolution. 2021 is going to be a year to remember in the rock music industry.

Being the emotionally-ridden, catharsis inducing, and radio worthy track it is, “Down” is the first track toward the band’s upcoming album, coming on February 12th 2021, with guest appearances from ex-Flyleaf singer Lacey Sturm, Breaking Benjamin guitarist/backing vocalist Keith Wallen and Righteous Vendetta frontman Ryan Hayes.

Check out the track list:

01 – “Slow Fire”
02 – “Infamy”
03 – “Down”
04 – “Death Of Us”
