Lose Yourself in Mazare’s New EP
Have you ever wondered what would happen if two contrasting genres such as pop-punk and drum & bass came into contact with each other? Well, Italian producer Mazare makes this dream come true with the release of his new EP Dreams Only Last For a Night. Unlike what the title suggests, the dream comes in four unique tracks that will leave you in a state of bliss for many nights.

The opening track, “Stay”, features singer-songwriter Josh Rubin as he adds the emotional element of the production while he sings about longing for his lover to remain by his side and not allowing time to pass by. The song transitions from an acoustic introduction to Mazare’s energetic beats that bounce throughout this versatile masterpiece.
Next, “Another Day” serves as another genre-bending hit that features Cape Town-based band Opposite the Other. There is a notable indie-folk influence with the uses of twangy violins and chants as well as the producer’s signature pop-punk and drum & bass thrown into the mix. The use of powerful guitars and percussions complements Opposite the Other’s fierce vocals as they sing about coming straight into fighting life’s challenges. Like the song suggests, “it’s not over yet” as we explore the next track.
We explore celestial territory as we are launched into the ethereal “Wayfarer” that features Sofuu’s wistful vocals about star-crossed lovers. “Wayfarer” is the EP’s most pop-influenced track, but that does not mean that it is less unique than the previous tracks. Punk guitars and drum beats are prominent in the chorus. If Zedd’s “Clarity” had relatives, then this track serves as its edgier, mature cousin.
The EP comes in full circle with the closing track being an acoustic version of “Stay.” The dramatic nature of the song is amped up to the nines as the production consists of mellow violins and piano decorate Rubin’s already-emotional delivery.
If the EP were to be described as a literal dream, it would be one where you start on earth and then end up high in the sky with the fluffiest of clouds as your final resting spot before you awake.
Prior to the birth of his project, Italy-based producer Mazare made strides in the electronic dance industry with radio support from his fellow musicians such as Illenium, Alison Wonderland, Gryffin, and ARMNHMR.
Like many up-and-coming artists, Mazare has brought his unique mixture and planted it to an ever growing musical landscape. Dreams Only Last For a Night serves as him setting his artistic foot forward while he allows for contribution from fellow emerging musicians such as Josh Rubin, Opposite the Other, and Sofuu. The producer has said positive things about his new project:
“This song and this EP, in general, is the start of a new chapter for me. I’ve experimented for years looking for the perfect balance between pop rock and drum & bass, and this first single and the whole EP represent ‘square one’ of my melodic sound going forward. Super excited for everyone to hear what I have in store and feeling grateful that all this new music found home at Lost In Dreams.”
