Global sensation Lewis Capaldi makes an awe-striking return with his new single, “Survive.” It has been two years since his shift away from the spotlight, so he knew his comeback had to be special. Fans can rest assured that this single is everything they could want and more, full of vulnerability and brutal honesty about Capaldi’s challenging period.
The song explores mental health and the challenges he’s faced battling self-doubt and overwhelming despair. It can be heard in his lyrics, “Most nights I fear that I’m not enough, I’ve had my share of Monday mornings when I can’t get up.” It isn’t just the relatability of the lyrics themselves, but the emotion passionately sung behind them. The guitar and a few piano notes in the background create a somber and intimate atmosphere, allowing listeners to home in on the words. For “Survive,” Capaldi reunited with RØMANS, who also co-wrote on the 2019 global megahit “Someone You Loved,” which is nothing to scoff at. It went 10x Platinum in the U.S. and is the UK’s most-streamed song of all time and the fourth highest ever-streamed song in the world.
