Let Desert Hearts’ Newest EP, Acid Hearts, Spin You Into This Upcoming Week

As the date draws closer for the 10-year celebration of the Desert Hearts Festival, collaborative releases on the label continue to generate anticipatory energy, the latest of which is an EP titled Acid Hearts. This two-track EP fuels the endearing aspect of the label’s sound and messaging while spotlighting each artist – Doorly, Gene Farris, and Rowetta – in their own artistic manner and as their own sonic innovator. Doorly partners with each of the other two artists on a track to create a colorful and vibrant work that can fuel your week.

The opening track, “Give Me Love,” is a collaboration with Rowetta. It provides equal duality in its ability to serve as an intrapersonal tune as well as a party banger. With its title repeatedly vocalized over shuffled groovy basslines, the intention for this track is easily set and understood. Listeners are easily transported to a 70s-esque disco dance floor with the thumping beats and breathy vocalizations.

“Brothers & Sisters” dives into more of the tech-house space, with spacey kicks paired against a bubbly environment, welcoming listeners into a warming composition that feels as thoughtful as it is an escapade in dance. With Gene Farris on decks for collaborating, listeners are guaranteed a foray into the underground. With a meaningful message layered – “Brothers & Sisters, you better get it together – we gotta hold it together.” – atop the pulsating dance line, the track evokes the communal dance floor energy that Desert Hearts is known for.

Desert Hearts looks to celebrate 10 years at its new venue of Lake Perris, CA. Join the community for its grand return from Thursday, April 28 through Monday, May 2! Find more information online: Desert Hearts Festival.
