Ska artist Jeff Rosenstock is ushering in his latest era. With the release of “DOUBT,” Rosenstock wants to remind people to “slow down” and “cool it with the doubt.”

Rosenstock has mastered his ska sound. “DOUBT” is a song that is obviously Rosenstock, in the best way possible. He is no stranger to addressing fears and anxiety in his music — even naming his 2016 album “WORRY.

“DOUBT” is no different. He sings:

Kill all the doubt or the doubt is never gonna go away

Kill all of the doubt or it’ll waste your day

Kill all of the doubt or it’ll never go away

The video is animated in a 2D style with a purple and blue color scheme for most of the video. The viewer followers a character preparing for some huge disaster, although for the majority of the video, it is unclear what the character is concerned about. All of a sudden, the color scheme changes, and the sun comes barreling toward the protagonist.

About the video, Rosenstock shared:

“I wanted to make an anime-inspired video that captures the feeling of dread you feel when you know you’re gonna have to deal with some bad shit, and then that bad shit ends up way worse than you had even imagined.”

Rosenstock is no stranger to animation. Cartoon fans may know Rosenstock for his work on Cartoon Network’s “Craig of the Creek.” His work as the show’s composer got him an Emmy nod along with the rest of the team. On his 2019 album, “Thanks, Sorry!,” he featured a cover of the “Craig of the Creek” theme song.

The “DOUBT” video was animated by some “Craig of the Creek” animators.

“DOUBT” is the lead single to Rosenstock’s upcoming fifth solo studio album, “HELLMODE.” The album will be out Sept. 1.

He described the project:

“To me, the album feels like the chaos of being alive right now. We’re experiencing all these things at the same time that trigger our senses, and emotions that make us feel terrible. We’re just feeling way too much all at once!”

Rosenstock is also gaining more notoriety as he continues to release music. This new-found success has been a source of anxiety for him, and he plans to use “HELLMODE” to explore that theme.

In the fall, Rosenstock will be heading on a North American tour. See the dates here:
