Lauren Vahdani Strikes a Chord with “Playin’ The Fool”

Driven by a bold, rhythmic guitar line and layered with Lauren Vahdani’s distinctive folk-pop vocals, Playin’ The Fool is the kind of song that immediately pulls you in. The emerging singer-songwriter returns to the spotlight with this new release, marking her sixth single from her debut album A Million Little Heartbreaks.

The track continues to build on Vahdani’s signature style: intimate, emotionally grounded storytelling that feels both personal and universally relatable. With lyrics that navigate the ache of falling for someone who doesn’t deserve it, Playin’ The Fool offers a raw look at love’s contradictions, all wrapped in catchy, melodic hooks.

Accompanying the single is a visually nostalgic music video, soaked in sepia tones and subtle film grain, which echoes the mood and aesthetic of the 90s. The sunset hues and retro textures set a dreamlike backdrop that enhances the song’s reflective energy.

The video and single were officially released during a special performance at Harvard & Stone in Hollywood, a well-loved venue in L.A.’s Americana and country scene. Sharing the night with Vahdani were Stephanie Erin Wittmer and, later, Alice Wallace, who headlined the Wild Country Night presented by Warbringer Whiskey. Local favorite DJ Max Maxtofferson also spun tunes to round out the evening.

Tired of waiting for an opportunity to knock, Lauren Vahdani took matters into her own hands. She left behind a successful corporate career to pursue her real dream: telling stories through music. Lauren had already made waves on digital platforms with earlier releases like What’s Good and What’s Right and Can’t Not it Be.

Born in Texas and now based in Los Angeles, Lauren Vahdani fuses her Southern roots with West Coast spirit, creating a sound that bridges country, folk, and ’90s pop-rock. Her lyrics, always sincere and often deeply personal, offer a window into the life of a woman who sings what she’s lived. Playin’ The Fool is another powerful glimpse into A Million Little Heartbreaks, set for release in fall 2025.
