Lacey Sturm is taking the road with a limited set of dates across the west coast. It’s been many years since an event like this has happened, and on a rare chance, we caught her and her band within the walls of Goldfield in Roseville.
The rock princess will be joining with her band members of Flyleaf for a few dates in the festival circuit throughout the rest of summer and into the fall.

Special appearances were made by guests Young Other and Islander. Both acts offered unique sounds of their own, with Islander featuring heavy music, stage divers, and a circle pit around one of the two pillars in the building. Young Other brought an energy that not only warmed up the night but also highlighted a classic 00s rock edge laced with hopeful lyrics.
Lacey Sturm joined the stage as the intro of “My Heartbeat” whirred in the audience’s ears. The music continued with more of her hits, including “The Decree,” and “State of Me.” Flyleaf fans’ appetites were sated with intimate versions of “I’m So Sick,” “Fully Alive,” and “All of Me.”
Lacey let the music speak for itself for the majority of the night, whirling in a black top and tulle skirt with sparkly Doc Martens. She opted to go barefoot and sink her full presence on the stage a little over halfway through the night, as if taking in the world around her and sinking into it.
Each song was a declaration of its own, a spoken word of hope for more. Fans sung along and made each decree their own, soaking in the atmosphere.
Though the crowd was packed in tight, at moments, it felt as if there were few around, and we were old friends, just catching up and joining in community with one another. And there was a safety in that throughout the remainder of the evening, even after everyone left to go to their homes and sleep for the night. There was a power in the performance unlike many.
