On January 27, rising indie-alt-pop ingénue Kailee Morgue dropped her new single, “Another Day in Paradise,” alongside an accompanying music video feature, via Thriller Records.

“Another Day in Paradise,” lyrically, is a jaded introspection as well as a nihilistic, tired cry for some sort of release in luxurious mundanity. Kailee’s sweet vocals and contributing instrumentals contradict this dark message, reminiscent of cheerful citypop and a 90’s grainy aesthetic.

Speaking on the release, the artist commented, “I wrote ‘Another Day in Paradise’ on the couch with my boyfriend talking about how hard it is to feel normal in a place like Los Angeles. I’m never one to make a song that’s as sad as it might seem so I approached it with a sarcastic point of view and some of that 90’s attitude, using repetition in the bridge to mirror how it feels waking up every morning in a city where everything and nothing is happening all the time.”

Before this single’s release, Kailee had previously shared the music video for “Butterflies,” which was the first release from Kailee after signing with Thriller Records. The music video for “Butterflies” has totaled over 100 thousand views on YouTube.

Kailee Morgue delivers a delightful dichotomy between crooning saccharine melodies while simultaneously dabbling with the dark side on both this new release of “Another Day in Paradise” and “Butterflies.” The latter marks her first track with new label Thriller Records, and the music video marks the start of an incredible new era for the Phoenix-born LA resident. Kailee has already amassed a rabid core fan base with fast-rising TikTok followers since her 2018 breakout track, “Medusa,” which was released via Republic Records.
