Junaco is quickly becoming one of our favorites, and their rising notoriety tells you exactly why: dreamy soundscapes, a solid 90s-inspired rock vibe, and top-notch quality are among their greatest virtues. As they work on their much-anticipated sophomore LP, Junaco has been releasing new songs into the world for our enjoyment. First was the bossa-inspired “Find The Melody” back in late May, and now they’re following up with a shimmering, folksy ballad titled “Escape.”

The song is slow and stripped down, relying on minimal instrumentation and a classic doo-wop chord progression that immediately creates a dreamy, romantic tone. While your mind drifts off to a scene of slow dancing cheek to cheek, the vocals gently weave over the melody in an almost haunting manner. Each note she sings seems to carry its own story, evoking a sense of timelessness and nostalgia.

With effortless warmth in her delivery, Junaco invites listeners into their world, sharing moments of joy and heartache with simple sincerity. The lyrics are a beautiful monologue that captures the essence of growing older and the universal search for peace.

Oliver Hill (Coco) joins the band once again on strings, while engineering was handled by Mario Ramirez, mixing by Jake Aron, and mastering by Heba Kadry. The album, which features “Escape,” is scheduled for release in 2025 and was recorded at Sonic Ranch in El Paso, Texas.

“Escape” reflects the ongoing search for balance, recognizing that life is often, in hindsight, a series of fleeting moments where being rooted in the present is both challenging and utterly necessary. Though we may desire to escape to physical or mental spaces where we feel safe from ongoing uncertainty, those moments are fleeting, reminding us of the paramount need to grow and evolve.
