Jimmy Eat World Presents Night 1/3 of their Phoenix Sessions Streaming Event, “Chapter X: Surviving”

Read Time:1 Minute, 53 Second

On January 15th, critically acclaimed alternative rock band, Jimmy Eat World, launched their Phoenix Sessions, a global stream performance series in partnership with Danny Wimmer Presents.  Together, the band united for the first night of three one-of-a-kind performances. Each night of the livestream will depict the “chapters” in their storied career.

Today, the band kicked off with a performance of their 10th studio album, Surviving (Chapter X), which has only been seen live by the lucky fans who made it to the shows last October. Following that, on January 29th they will be performing Futures (Chapter V), and Clarity (Chapter III) on February 12th. As they share this unique set of performances, $1 from every ticket purchased until the day before the first event was donated to the NIVA Emergency Relief Fund to support live music venues struggling in the pandemic.

Before the event kicked off, the band offered some exclusive details in an interview while sharing their excitement to meet with fans after their set. “We are afforded this luxury thanks to our fans, just to continue writing and creating music,” they said. “Without them we wouldn’t have been in this amazing position.”

The streaming event offered a unique interactive streaming experience embodying the feeling of a live show. Under the hashtag, #phoenixsessions, fans are able to chat about the show on all social media platforms. In between each song, Jimmy Eat World chatted a little and took a moment to re-tune their instruments for the next song in the set.

Throughout the performance, vocalists were crisp and instrumentals were practiced and sharp as each song built in intensity and emotionally, and finally had the pleasure of being performed after a nearly a year without shows due to the pandemic. The overall set was 40 minutes; which made for something short and sweet to warm fans up to the visual experience before the next two performances.

While you still can, I recommend catching this show; it will be available for 72 hours after going live; as will the second and third livestreams. Tickets are available for purchase here.
