“If I could I would” was a late bloomer. Written out of need in an attempt to get one more song on the record. It quickly was clear that it would be a perfect first release and intro as an artist.

Curtis Phagoo

After the release of this year’s “Birds”, Red Deer, Alberta based singer songwriter Curtis Phagoo is back with the adult contemporary single “If I Could I Would”. Comprised of dobro, pedal steel, mandolin, acoustic guitar and percussion, the instrumentation provides a bright atmosphere that makes the track delightful with each listen. Full of hopeful lyrics, Phagoo’s songwriting clearly strikes a chord with anyone dealing with curiosity, love and dedication.

Oh if I could I would

Pull the heavens down

But surly heavens where

You’re found

Of all the places I could be

I’d be with you

And all the faces that I’ve seen

I fixed my eyes on you

Oh, if I could I would

If I Could I Would – Lyrics

Opening with pedal steel and a catchy straightforward beat, Phagoo’s sweet vocals interrupt the mix along with acoustic guitar. Absolutely soothing, the pace picks up at the vocal hook “If I Could I Would” which rings tenderly in your ears. What makes Phagoo such a good singer is his relaxed approach which leaves room for other components of the tune to shine. With awesome stringed Instruments that add nuanced licks and twangy delight, the atmosphere of track is folk country at its best.
