Hear Jack White’s Live Rendition of “A Tip from Me to You”
Jack White released the official live performance video for “A Tip from Me to You” on Nov.2. The song is from his latest album, Entering Heaven Alive. Entering Heaven Alive marks Jack White’s sixth solo album since the split of his previous band-the iconic White Stripes. The project follows on the heels of Fear of the Dawn, which was also released this year.
Jack White is a musician that needs little introduction. Along with Meg White he was one half of The White Stripes, a band that would help define many of the sounds of the 2000s alternative and indie scene. The White Stripes’ music saw them combine elements of punk, garage rock, blues and alternative rock together. The White Stripes reached their commercial peak with “Seven Nation Army“, which has now become one of the most well-known songs from the 2000s. Following their breakup in 2011, White embarked on a solo career. His solo albums have been met with positive critical and fan reception, especially 2018’s Boarding House Reach.
“A Tip from Me to You” sees Jack White looking for answers. He talks about how everyone seems to always be giving him advice- everyone always seems to have something to say. Yet despite all this, he still wonders if he will stay alone. Despite all these people advising and consulting him, none of them really seem to want to help him out.
The video is a collection of various performances of the song that Jack White has made on his 2022 supply chain issues tour. The video is draped in midnight blue with a gigantic moon present on the screen behind Jack White. White’s vocals are supported by backing vocals from the pianist and every musician on stage is highlighted at some point or the other in the video. The video of White’s various performances is edited incredibly well. The only thing that gives away the fact that it is a compilation is the change in White’s clothes across various performances.
