HAZLETT ENCOURAGES OTHERS TO LOOK AT LIFE DIFFERENTLY ON HIS LATEST FOLK-INSPIRED SINGLE “TELL ME WHAT YOU DREAM ABOUT”

With a debut album on the way and a stellar single just released, indie folk artist Hazlett seems poised to take on the music world this coming year. With “Tell Me What You Dream About,” the Australian-by-way-of-Sweden musician evokes the best in his genre — Vance Joy, Hozier, Passenger, Bon Iver — while simultaneously outshining all of them with his entrancing vocals and uplifting lyrics. “Tell Me What You Dream About” is ultimately an optimistic song about steeping outside of ourselves to see things, including our own lives, from a different perspective, with soft, enchanting lyrics overlaid wonderful percussion and lovely guitar work. Unlike much of indie music, Hazlett has crafted what sounds like the perfect road trip track, going much harder in the folk genre than one might expect — a fact which makes the song, and him, stand out in the best ways all the more. As Hazlett prepares for the January 13, 2023 release of his debut album, Bloom Mountain, he reflects on the inspiration for “Tell Me What You Dream About:”

“I think you need to step out of your own self to see things clearly sometimes. Life becomes pretty heavy when you can’t brush by a little inconvenience or the fear of failingSo, I tried to picture what my future self would be telling me if we were friends. Waiting for me, cheering me on and reminding me of everything I’ve done so far. I think we forget that we need to encourage ourselves from time to time.”

Be sure to check out Hazlett on SoundCloud, TikTok, Facebook, Spotify and Instagram.
