Punk is officially back, and Green Day is leading the charge. The band kicked off the North American leg of their massive stadium tour, the “Saviors Tour,” in Washington DC on July 30th. The first show went off with a bang, drawing over 41,000 fans to National Park. The night crackled with nostalgia, rebellion, and of course punk rock. Joining them on stage are punk heavyweights, The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and The Linda Lindas. All three bands will be with Green Day for the rest of their tour.

Celebrating big milestones!

This year is a big one for Green Day. Their iconic album Dookie turns 30, and American Idiot celebrates its 20th anniversary. In honor of these milestones, the band played both albums in their entirety. Fans couldn’t have asked for more. The setlist also included tracks from their most recent album, Saviors, showcasing the band’s ever-growing discography. The crowd soaked up every second of it.

With a killer discography such as Green Day’s, it only seemed right that the night started strong with “The American Dream is Killing Me.” Green Day didn’t hold back and kept the excitement coming by playing “Welcome to Paradise” and “When I Come Around.” The FOMO is real for anyone who missed out.

After wrapping up Dookie, the band dove straight into other fan favorites like “Minority” and “Brain Stew.” Despite these songs being over a decade old, the energy was as fresh as ever. Green Day showed that their music has aged like fine wine, with every note hitting just as hard as when it first dropped.

But Green Day wouldn’t be Green Day without a little rebellion. During “American Idiot,” Billie Joe Armstrong shook things up by swapping out lyrics of their famous track. Armstrong declared on stage, “I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda.” The crowd erupted, proving that punk’s rebellions spirit is alive and well.

Have FOMO like we do? Don’t worry. The Saviors Tour is rolling on until the end of September. Check for remaining tour dates and tickets here.
