Alternative indie artist Goth Babe is prone to adventure, basking in the ups and downs of life. Griff Washburn will share these musings in his debut album, Lola. The album is slated to release this fall on Mom + Pop Music and is already available for pre-order.
He first made a name for himself with 2018’s “Sometimes” and hit after hit like “Weekend Friend” and “I Wanna Help Your Mind.” Now, Washburn focuses on a more minimal lifestyle embracing his love for the outdoors and the environment. He’s lived in his car, a tiny house, a camper van, and now, a sailboat named Lola. Along the way, he’s experienced all that life has to offer, from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows.
There’s so much beauty in the world, obviously balanced by a lot of pain and suffering. I would love if these songs allowed people, even just for a second, to escape the weight and heaviness of the world.
~ Griff Washburn (Goth Babe)
Alongside Lola is an accompanying short film. It follows the album’s behind-the-scenes and shares who Washburn is apart from just Goth Babe. In a cinematic, aesthetic pairing of breath-taking nature shots with rustic-edited imagery, the trailer for “Lola” foreshadows an epic short film. The narration hints at the joys of touring and the suffering that comes with trauma.
“Lola” is a short film you won’t want to miss, so stay tuned for updates on screenings and release dates. Bonus: Sadie, his blue-eyed Australian Shepherd, makes lots of appearances.
It would be terrifying for my entire identity to be my band, because so much ego is wrapped up in that. That seems like a cycle of always trying to be someone you’re not to impress other people. I don’t just want to be Goth Babe. I want to be Griff, to not have all my eggs in one basket.

Goth Babe celebrated the album announcement and trailer by releasing “Bioluminescence.” The single, alongside an equally mesmerizing visualizer, details the bliss that comes with an adventurous lifestyle, an ode to nature to the tune of electric synths and a bright beat.
I feel her skin and hold her tight
Make our way for the ocean light
I slip into the clearest blue
A sea of stars all around you~ “Bioluminescence”
