After an intense, unpredictable Final Four this past week, Glassetonbury Vol. 5 has reached its final round. Michigan’s hip-hop tag team of TJA and Jay Willy survived a tough matchup and will face off against upstate New York native CHASE STEPHEN. Both of these songs faced a difficult path to the finals, but only one can win.
Let’s take one last look at our bracket for Vol. 5:
The winner of this week’s Championship Round will win a featured interview on our front page, a live stream/fan Q&A on Instagram Live, and more. “Woah” – TJA x Jay Willy
defeated “Baby Grand” by Anna B Savage in the Round of 32
defeated “sofa surfer” by Cole Allen in the Sweet Sixteen
defeated “Emergency” by RoeShamBeaux in the Elite Eight
defeated “In The Mi(D)st” by Joe Kenney x Sterling Duns in the Final Four
Flint, MI rapper TJA and Detroit rapper/producer Jay Willy have been a dominant force in every round so far, and their victory this past week in an all-out war against Joe Kenney and Sterling Duns proved that they’re laser-focused on taking home the title of Glassetonbury, Vol. 5 champions.
“Woah” is a grimy hip-hop/dub-step fusion that released on January 19th. The energy on this song reminds me of some of Futuristic and Devvon Terrell‘s collaborations — with an extra dose of wubs and dubs to make you wish you were at the rave they were playing this at. The video features the artists living it up with a party bus, liquor, and a pet lemur.

“leaf szn” – CHASE STEPHEN
defeated “I Saw RED” by Justin Christopher in the Round of 32
defeated “Old Pages” by Spondifferous in the Sweet Sixteen
defeated “The Other Side” by Dan Kiernan in the Elite Eight
defeated “One” by Shalisa Taylor in the Final Four
After a close, back-and-forth matchup in the Elite Eight, CHASE STEPHEN rode that momentum to an impressive victory over a very strong contender in his Final Four matchup against Swedish pop artist Shalisa Taylor.
His song “leaf szn” is a lo-fi, vibey instrumental in the vein of “Beat Tape 2”-era Tom Misch. As someone whose top Spotify track of all-time is Misch’s “In The Midst Of It All,” that’s a massive compliment from this writer. “Leaf szn” is a perfect rainy-day jam chock full of tasty, clean guitar fills from the upstate New Yorker. Stephen, who also founded the Le Steez label, released this track in November 2020.
