Here are our daily picks for you featuring Phantogram, PALE WAVES, Ginger Root and more!

1. “Attaway” – Phantogram

Have you ever yearned for something unexplainable? Felt a deep sense of nostalgia for a past life you can never return to? Phantogram‘s “Attaway” encapsulates that longing to go somewhere, be someone, do something. The track weaves between various chords to create a captivating sound that is wholly and uniquely human. Using a spaced-out looped sample with driving bass and angular guitar, the New York-based duo talks about how this addition challenged them to reach new creative heights. “Attaway” can be found on Phantogram’s newest album, Memory of a Day, an immersive collection of mesmerizing choruses, experimental synths and bursts of color.

On the new album, Phantogram says, “We put these songs together as a capsule, thinking about how a certain sound or melody can bring you back instantly to a memory of a day.” Igniting listeners’ souls one memorable track at a time, Phantogram is a force to be watched upon.

2. “No Problems” – Ginger Root

Jumpstarting the weekend with some fresh and funky instrumentals, Ginger Root presents their latest synth-pop smash, “No Problems.” Filled with syncopated rhythms, contagious vocals, soaring 70’s disco elements and a bit of boogie, the song’s lyricism acknowledges how everyone has their own problems. The track is one of 12 found on Ginger Root’s newest album, SHINBANGUMI, which was heavily influenced by 1970’s and ’80s music, Japanese City Pop, French Pop, Philly Soul and more. The alt-disco artist is currently on a huge tour across North America, Europe and UK in support of SHINBANGUMI. Find tickets here today.

3. “Thinking About You” – PALE WAVES

“Thinking About You” by Manchester-based indie pop band PALE WAVES envelopes listeners into the mind of someone who hasn’t fully moved on from a broken relationship. “You know you should and that it’ll be better for you in the long run, but it’s harder and more painful than it seems,” says frontwoman Heather Baron-Gracie. With soaring, dream-like vocals and captivating layers of guitar, “Thinking About You” continues the band’s reputation for creating music that enhances romance’s vulnerability. Most recently, PALE WAVES has released their newest album, Smitten, which explores themes of love, sexuality, queerness, finding yourself, moving on, growing up and more.

4. “SLOWLY” – Robert Delong

Up next is Robert Delong‘s “SLOWLY,” an alternative electronic single that centers around a relationship close to ending. “I’m on my knees / So let me down slowly . . . Good guys still bleed / So let me down slowly, Delong sings. Co-written by indie rock artist Barns Courtney, the wistful lyrics seem to contradict the upbeat pop nature of the track, creating a sense of conflict that mirrors that of the main character. Days after the single’s release, Delong unleashed his fourth studio album, PLAYLIST of DOOM. Delong has also just wrapped up a co-headliner tour with Atlas Genius, which took his unique artistic performances to venues across the US.

5. “NHR” – Certain Death

Closing out today’s selection is “NHR,” a new single by American rock band Certain Death that takes hypnotizing electric guitar solos and heavy vocals to the main stage. The song follows lead singer Henry Black’s personal experience of escaping Jewish persecution in Eastern Europe in the early 20th century. “While this song is a deeply personal one for me, ‘NHR’ can really stand for whatever it is the listener wants,” Black says. “Ancestral trauma is fairly universal for any group of people.” The single comes off Certain Death’s latest LP, “Strange Garden,” which received high reviews from Blast Out Your Stereo and Vanyaland.

If you’re looking for some new indie pop, experimental or rock hits to listen to, consider checking out these five tracks today!
