We’re halfway through the week! Check out these exciting new releases from Leon Thomas, Dan Ghenacia and Slowly Slowly.
1. “FAR FETCHED (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)” – Leon Thomas, Ty Dolla $ign
“FAR FETCHED (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)” by Leon Thomas and Ty Dolla $ign illustrates the frustrations of being in a one-sided relationship where the hope for a shared future feels “far fetched.” The soulful vocals express vulnerable sentiments of disappointment, highlighting internal conflicts about how to balance both personal freedom and love. The accompanying music video is filmed in 360 cinematography, likely meant to represent how the relationship keeps moving in a circle leading nowhere. The single can be found in Leon Thomas’ most recent album, MUTT, a project that explores the versatility of love.
2. “Grieved You” – Skye Riley
Skye Riley‘s newest single, “Grieved You,” is an emotional track about being in a relationship with someone whose actions cause you to “grieve” them before it ends. With soaring vocals and an eerie atmosphere, the song is the perfect soundcast for the 2024 Parker Finn Horror Film, “Smile 2.” The film itself follows the global star, Skye Riley, as she begins to experience terrifying events that force her to confront memories of her dark past.
3. “TOGETHER” – Miami Horror
Undeniably optimistic with a pulsating beat and driving tempo, “TOGETHER” by Miami Horror embodies that nostalgic glow of childhood innocence. The bright new single marks Miami Horror’s return after a nine-year album hiatus. It is also the product of collaboration from singer-songwriters Ayoni, Ngaiire and Beckah Amani.
“‘TOGETHER’ was originally a song about coming together, as we wanted to remind people about unity in a time when we were experiencing so much division,” says Miami Horror. “We grew up in a time where countries felt more united, and people had more of a ‘love thy neighbor’ approach to life. . . [‘TOGETHER’] reminded us of the nostalgic childhood emotions we felt toward music, when it wasn’t pretentious, when it felt somewhat magic, and a song could feel like an adventure. “
4. “Forgiving Spree” – Slowly Slowly
“Forgiving Spree” by Australian indie-rock band Slowly Slowly is an impactful track with powerful vocals that detail the beauty of forgiving yourself and others when things go wrong. “It’s a song about moving on, real deep lasting change, and the act of forgiveness as a tool to achieve it,” says frontman and songwriter Ben Stewart. “It is also a reminder that forgiveness can be a tool used to move forward, let go, grow, and not look back.” With catchy electric guitar riffs and energetic drums, “Forgiving Spree” is a song that will leave listeners in the mood to impart some positivity on the world. 5. “Rouge ou Noir” – Dan Ghenacia
Closing out today’s selection is Dan Ghenacia‘s newest house release, “Rouge ou Noir,” out via Stratasonic. Sporadic vocal loops, steady synths and driving riffs are the backbones of this funk-filled track. The song is part of an eponymous, three-track EP, “Rouge ou Noir,” which brings the popular French DJ to new heights through its rugged rhythms. With years of experience DJ-ing and touring the globe under his belt, Ghenacia continues to make waves in France’s underground electronic scene.
