“Fendi” Collaboration by R3HAB, Rakhim, and Smokepurpp Proves a Long-Standing Banger

Although released in early 2021, “Fendi” proves to be a long-standing multi-lingual certified banger thanks to the cross-genre and cross-culture collaboration by EDM producer and DJ R3HAB, Miami rapper Smokepurpp, and Russian TikTok star Rakhim. Originally viral on TikTok, “Fendi” positioned itself as one of R3HAB’s most daring productions. After a post on R3HAB’s Instagram account called on Smokepurpp to team up for a rework of the original production, the rest was history.

Performing and recording under the name R3HAB, Fadil El Ghoul is one of the most renowned Dutch house artists. His work has ranged from progressive and big-room house to trap, with darker edges inspired by psytrance and gabber. He has released many charting singles, remixed songs by Rihanna, Calvin Harris, and Lady Gaga, toured across the world several times, and earned notice as one of the top global mixers from DJ Mag. He continues to evolve and diversify his sound by working with a variety of artists, experimenting with everything from hip-hop to pop through his collaborations.

A testament to his unsatiated appetite to expand his musical range and talent, R3HAB ventures into the realm of hip-hop influences with “Fendi.” Opening with a hard-hitting and rhythmic tempo, the track incorporates rap lyrics and the title’s catchy vocal hook. The undeniable influence of trap is apparent as the underpinning of the first verse, filled with trap-style vocals and pounding basslines. A subtle but confident shift occurs as R3HAB’s signature electronic bass style in the second verse as a slapping bassline takes over. Smokepurpp and Rakhim trade off vocal duties in both English and Rakhim’s native Russian language, making “Fendi” full of surprises to keep listeners on their toes. A mix of trap and big-room bass takes over as the vocal hook is repeated to close out the track.

If you need a reminder as to why this track was a viral sensation, now is your chance to take a walk down memory lane.
