Farewell To Love In SMILEZ’s ‘Right Turn, Left Turn’

Finding love is like finding a needle in a haystack. Other times it’s like coming across a one dollar bill in public. The challenge is significantly less in comparison. Whether you found love the easy or the hard way, one thing’s for sure – it’s like you’re floating in cloud nine. Being in love makes going through life much sweeter because of the rose color glasses you’re wearing. Ahh L-O-V-E!

This overwhelming power seeps in with LA based artist SMILEZ with his latest song ‘Right Turn, Left Turn’. Released June 9th in all major streaming platforms all over and part of his album ‘Ur In My World’. SMILEZ’s ‘Right Turn, Left Turn’ is a track about venturing into love. A heavy emphasis on the feelings of fear, uncertainty and curiosity. We see how love affects our lives in all aspects. Providing us a closer look to the emotions felt about having ‘feelings’ for a friend. SMILEZ tell us point blank that falling for a friend isn’t a black and white situation. Things are more complex when romance isn’t the only thing on the line. You lose a partner, and simultaneously you lose a friend.

With playfully cool vocals intertwined in instrumentals that are easy on the ears and soul. SMILEZ’s ‘Right Turn, Left turn’ successfully gives us a snapshot of an individual in turmoil and still finding some joy in this torture. Sure, he might completely lose the person but what the heck “I just wanna be with you but only for the night’ as the lyrics would say. Used to the pain, he doubles down on the request “It starts tonight. Then it’s the next night. Then it’s every night. So only tonight”. A plea to turn back time or to kindle a spark, this is probably the final interaction before “Looking for a better situation.”.
