Ria Barkr Releases Debut Single, “work for it”
R&B singer-songwriter Ria Barkr has just posted her debut single titled “work for it.” The track simply flows in style and creativity as she revamps the sounds of futuristic beats that everyone loves so thoroughly in the genre, and for or the first time ever, “work for it” can be found on Spotify.
Barkr is thoroughly familiar with the stage life, as she has shared roles with Broadway performers and made multiple callbacks that lead up to a filming portion of America’s Got Talent when she was just 14 years old. However, 2017 was the year that Ria stepped up as a fully fledged artist, and began to use the stage she was so familiar with as expertly as she could. After a studio session with the worldwide known jazz pianist and composer Jeff Franzel (Frank Sinatra, Josh Groban, The Temptations), who took a liking to her earlier produced rendition of Etta James’ “At Last,” Ria was ready to begin singing her raw and fully realized truth. It has been a few years since then, and now, Ria is already a promising R&B trailblazer in her own right who’s not afraid with having all eyes on her.

“work for it” introduces itself as a dreamscape of warmth and dulcet tones. The manner of which Barkr handles her voice, and how it can reach lower ranges than others, is a welcoming breath of fresh air. She sings of how she loves to be in control, that she always has a final say in whatever outcome of a relationship. It’s a game of cat and mouse, and she loves the rewards that come from being on top of it all.
Again, the single can be listened to fully on Spotify.
