This week, POSTDATA has finally graced us with his new album, Run Wild, as well as a brand new single, “Look to the Stars.” Run Wild is Paul Murphy of Wintersleep’s fourth album under his solo project, POSTDATA. Murphy collaborated with producer Joe Chiccarelli, best known for his work with The White Stripes and Morrissey, to create the brand new album.

Murphy began releasing music under the POSTDATA moniker back in 2010 with his self-titled debut album. After that release, Murphy took a break from releasing anything for POSTDATA until he returned with two new singles eight years later. “Evil” and hit song “Black Cloud” were released together in 2018, prior to the release of his sophomore album, Let’s Be Wilderness.
POSTDATA’s most recent album, Twin Flames, was met with critical acclaim from The Guardian, the Sunday Times, and more. His newest single, “Look to the Stars”, was released with a supporting video, which you can watch below.
The new song was released via Paper Bag Records and is a testament to love and finding yourself. Murphy tells a heartwarming story of how the song came to be, originating as a lullaby and turning into something so much bigger.
“The melody and chorus lyrics for this song started as a lullaby for my son. I still sing it for him a lot, but there were times where it was like 30 minutes of singing and he wouldn’t be sleeping. You sing the same songs a lot but there are points where that’s just boring or there’s just a nice feeling in the room and you venture into writing mode, I guess.”
