Eric Nam Teases His Biggest Album Yet with “House on a Hill”

Eric Nam is set to return with his most ambitious album. Before its arrival on September 8, the singer is giving a teaser with his newest single “House on a Hill.” The forthcoming project will include productions from UK-based artists HONNE and Oh Wonder, as well as longtime collaborator, Rabitt.

Fans are understandably excited. Following the single’s release, many of them took to the star’s comment section to share their reactions. From compliments on his voice to confessions that he reads minds, the song has quickly become a playlist essential.

To accompany the track, Nam released a visualizer featuring artwork by Naufal Abshar. The video is essentially a moving painting, alive with color and gestures. The man in the green suit seems to be Eric Nam himself, including references to many aspects of his career. There’s a YouTube gold button, nodding to his part-time job as a host of The Daebak Show and his own channel. He’s also sitting in a rather posh restaurant, symbolizing money, luxury and the lifestyle he’s able to afford. Most importantly, there’s a little scrawl of writing, a line that’s also in the song: “What if nothing fills me up?”

The song discusses the expectations that come with chasing dreams and making a reputation. This might be fame, money or maybe worldwide recognition. But he begins asking himself big questions, and he begins to fear disappointment. But all this wondering points to an answer— there is something about now, having what you have already, that is good enough.

Get a house on a hill

Make a whole lotta money

That’s when I’ll be okay

Get a hit, make it big

Maybe that’s when they’ll love me

All my problems will go away

The visualizer is just the beginning. In addition to an official music video for “House on a Hill,” Nam will be sharing three more music videos and a short film with the hopes of creating a complete story that’s true to his vision. Showcasing his versatility as both a musician and creative, the artist was involved in both the screenwriting and visual direction. Fans can definitely expect to see many new sides to Eric Nam.

Eric Nam is about to get very busy, kicking off his 80-city world House on a Hill World Tour in September. Fans are already in a frenzy to buy tickets. Check out tour dates on his official website, and in the meantime, get familiar with his discography on Spotify.
