Latina artist Elle Baez has been blazing a trail in the music world with highly anticipated Latin-pop single, “Fuego,” out on August 8th.
Baez had an incredible year in 2022, opening for Bea Miller at the VS Pink x PopSugar Show and performing all over the East Coast on a tour sponsored by VS Pink in 2022. Known best for expressing self-love and empowerment, particularly in singles “Pretty Insecurities” and “Mister Possessive” and her 2021 Debut EP Bold Soul, the artist shares an authentic, innovative soul and message throughout a contrasting upbeat pop sound. She empowers and inspires others through her captivating hooks, versatile writing style, and motto of self-love that she also spreads throughout her online fanbase. Her ethos is simple: be you, be sexy, and above all, be confident. Elle mixes her advocacy and storytelling with rich soundscapes that use elements of pop, latin, r&b, jazz, and funk to create a sound that is uniquely her own.
Throughout the artist’s latest single, though, we see yet another new side to Baez and her upbringing. See what she has to say about it:
I have held “Fuego” so close to my heart for so many years. It tells not only my story, but the story of those who came before me and made it possible for me to the be the confident woman and artist I am today. I am a curvy fierce Latina and I will continue to shine my light. The fire of mi comunidad that has set me ablaze keeps me going. My dad grew up on a farm in Ocoa and to see the life he has made makes me see that anything is impossible. “From the farm in Ocoa, made a legacy for ya, praise and love the Lord!”
~ Elle Baez
“Fuego” is an ode of celebration to her father and abuelo who immigrated to America from the Dominican Republic, and have achieved the “American Dream,” allowing Elle to follow her dreams. A Spanglish lyrical mix with a production that reflects it with modern pop synths combined with classic the sounds of Latin America that Elle grew up dancing to at her family parties. The song holds the same Fire that Elle puts into everything she makes as an artist after facing so many critics who told her she would never make it as a curvy Latina performer. Her force is constantly pushing boundaries and representing for her people.
