Ed Sheeran Creates New Sound with Single, “Bad Habits”

After a two year hiatus, famed solo artist from the UK, Ed Sheeran, is back with a new summer anthem titled “Bad Habits.” Known best for his top solo performances around the world, his singles “Shape of You,” and “Thinking Out Loud,” Sheeran is renowned all around the world for his love songs and pop hits.

Recently married and now a father, Sheeran retired from the busy life of the music world to take a step back; but is now back with new music and a new feeling. “Bad Habits” shifts the sound from acoustic anthems to another surefire pop hit as it topped the charts on the day of its release this Friday, June 25th.

In the video made to match, directed by Dave Meyers, Sheeran portrays a vampire alter-ego of himself as he embarks on a wild night out with other goblins and ghouls along that nature. By day; he’s a famed singer-songwriter. By night, a vampire.

Though the video is wild in itself, it plays on the faults of human nature; the impact that one choice can make on another person, especially as someone in the spotlight. Sheeran’s awareness of this is poignant in the video as it doesn’t hesitate to have a little fun at the same time.

Feels great to be back with my new single. I wanted the video for ‘Bad Habits’ to play on the nature of habits in a fantastical way so I decided on vampires. It was mega fun getting into character except for the heights (that wasn’t so fun). Enjoy x.

~ Ed Sheeran
