Orlando-based experimental bass duo EAZYBAKED has some exciting news regarding their debut album! INTERTWINED will be released on March 4th of this year and the duo (Eric Ray, Andrew Principe) are keeping fans locked in with excitement as they release their second single, “Simulated,” a highly anticipated fan favorite that has served as a cornerstone ID for many of their festival sets. Following the album’s first single, “Letting Go,” this 4+ minute track debuts a wondrous soundscape, providing a stark new direction fo the duo.

Eric and Andrew’s bond dates back to childhood playgrounds. Following their discovery of DAWs in highschool, the two began making beats together daily under the monikers “EAZY” and “Mr. Baked.” Recognizing their chemistry and ability to cocreate, they joined forces to become one under EAZYBAKED. To date, the duo have been booked for eclectic venues such as Red Rocks, performed high-profile festival sets at EDC Orlando and Okeechobee Music Festival, and picked for support by heavyweight electronic acts like GRiZ, Subtronics, Jantsen, and EPROM. The duo has released on labels such as WAKAAN (“Vessel”/”Bandzzz”) and Cyclops (“Killjoy”), but has found consistent support for its plethora of self-released music. Following their performance at Okeechobee in 2020, the global pandemic and birth of Andrew’s child inspired the duo to expand their artistic horizons. The duo shares more about this forthcoming album,

What mostly inspired this project was change and growth. We basically wrote the entirety of the album during quarantine, besides a couple of tracks from the previous year that we knew were meant to be on a project together. It just felt like time to expand our horizons and write a project that’s unlike anything we’ve done before. We didn’t know how big it was going to be at first, we just knew we had a lot to express and that’s exactly what we did.

The single artwork for “Simulated” is designed by none other than Renee King, acclaimed for her design work as Rukucustoms. Featuring a cartoon image of the duo on the screen of a computer that has been reclaimed by nature, the artwork reflects the familiar and frenetic energy that EAZYBAKED has become widely known for. A soundscape that is primarily electronically modified with a few elements that might sound more natural, “Simulated” has a classically trippy atmosphere with its warping and magnetic basslines. A sthe song progresses, there’s a natural ebb and flow to the movement of the basslines as build ups of energy and tempo give way to bouncy yet liquidy rhythm that’s punctuated by a vocal sample that grounds listeners back in the reality of the beats. Even then, it becomes easy to lose yourself in the reverbs, making this an easy crowd frenzy for this festival season.
