DJ Boris Lights Up St. Louis Dance Scene

As the dance music scene continues to grow in St. Louis, Missouri, it is rewarding to see artists of old and new stopping through town. This past November 2nd, DJ Boris (hosted by Party Diva Productions), along with some of St. Louis’s finest openers, delivered a night to remember for at the Red Flag.

For those who are unfamiliar, Boris has built a storied career with countless nights behind the decks at New York’s most iconic venues. From the legendary Roxy and Crobar to Pacha NY on 46th Street. His devoted fans have followed him through decades of transformative sets both locally and across the globe. Beyond the DJ booth, Boris is a prolific producer, releasing tracks on esteemed labels like Carl Cox’s Intec, Dubfire’s Sci-Tec, and Paco Osuna’s Mindshake Records, establishing himself as a major force in the house and techno scenes.

Often called the “DJ’s DJ,” Boris has achieved the kind of career many aspire to. His music has taken him from the beaches of Playa Del Carmen to the iconic clubs of Ibiza. While trends come and go, he remains dedicated to his signature drum-driven sound, blending global influences while staying true to his New York roots, carving a unique niche in the electronic music landscape. It was a treat to have him controlling the dance floor for a night in St. Louis. After he finished up his set, he was kind enough to remain around for a while longer to take some photos and share conversations with attendees.

The opening slots were special as well, as they featured KAAS b2b Rafa Carta and Mark LaPlante b2b JCruz.

Both of these acts did a wonderful job at getting things warmed up during their extended slots earlier on in the night. It is great to see artists beginning to have success with the sounds of house and techno in St. Louis. Promoters are becoming more willing to bring fresher acts from the scene in based on the ground work artists like these are doing. One (out of many) of those promoters is known as Party Diva Productions, who have been hosting great parties since the earlier half of this year. They are a collective of people who have been in the scene for many years and decided that now is a great time for them to begin throwing parties of their own.

You know an event, a party, or a night out is special when it has a story to tell when all is said and done. Each event that this promotion team has hosted thus far has done exactly that. This comes from not only choosing a strong enough headliner, but an undercard that features good, if not great, talent, and giving vendors a chance to show up and share their creations as well. Another step taken by this team that we have to commend is taking the chance and bringing in renowned artists who have not visited St. Louis much, if at all. This helps to push the dance music scene even further, as things remain fresh and exciting for newcomers and regulars alike. One can see the growth from each event as more and more people are beginning to show up and become connected with one another. We all know that the best way to build something new is by doing it together, and this is becoming another case for that.

Another thing that makes events such as these special is the thought and the passion that go into them. I stayed from start to finish at this show and to see so many hands on deck at the end (who are mostly all friends with one another) to handle teardown and cleaning gives another way to view a night out. Not only are promoters such as them working hard to bring in entertainers, provide opportunities for local talent, but they are also taking it upon themselves to ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible. It is definitely being noticed by the attendees who keep coming back and are eager to attend the next!

Full photo album from the night can be found here! Be sure to check them out.

Overall this night was a great balance of old-school and modern house, tech house, and techno grooves. Helping to reaffirm why DJ Boris continues to be a sought-after name across the globe. Nights like these continues to show where St. Louis dance music is headed for the near future. We are all looking forward to the next one!

If you happened to miss this one or want to check out another upcoming event from Party Diva Productions, look here as they are hosting another night of fun on December 14th.

Hi! My name is Josh and I have been attending concerts and festivals of all kinds for over a decade. While I can appreciate all music in some capacity, my true passion lies within various subgenres of metal, edm, and kpop. Late fall of 2022 I decided I wanted to be better about documenting some of those experiences. So what better way than to pick up a camera and start capturing some content to share with the world? The journey has been fun thus far, and I can't wait to see what things I will have to share for you as it continues. I hope we cross paths at a show soon!
