On November 19, Los Angeles-based rock duo Dead Posey released their latest music video for their track “sorry i’m not dead.” Prior to its release, the band dropped their catchy single, “Russian Roulette,” which amassed over 165,000 streams and counting on Spotify alone.

Speaking on “sorry i’m not dead,” the band shares that the track “is declaring war against the patriarchy. It’s cutting down the things that say you’re only pretty if you look like this or dress like that. Expecting women to have perfect hair, perfect nails, a perfect face, and body. It’s pushing against the systems in place that call Dead Posey a “female” fronted rock band. No one ever says “male” fronted rock band – it’s just a rock band. This song is about breaking out of the little box that a society based on traditional gender roles has placed around women for ages.”

Dead Posey first burst onto the rock scene in 2018, with the release of their self-produced debut EP Freak Show and standout track “Don’t Stop The Devil,” which has over 23 million digital spins. When Danyell Souza (lead singer/producer) and Tony F. (guitarist/multi-instrumentalist/producer) first met, they quickly tapped into their undeniable chemistry that led them down a cathartic path of creating punk-rock sounds riddled with unsettling lyrical themes ranging from sexism, depression, angst and rage against oppressive systems. According to Maximum Volume, the band “creates a barren, dystopian soundscape, but mix it with strutting, glam rock choruses and hooks,” while Guitar World Magazine praises them for being a little “Son House and Mahalia Jackson, throw in a pinch of Exile-era Rolling Stones and blend with a hint of Jim Morrison’s swagger.”
