Danny Olson’s Cover “Drops of Jupiter” is Out Of This World
Electronic artist Danny Olson released “Drops of Jupiter” and it’s stellar, to say the least. The release, featuring David Frank, is a part of the EP cover compilation Radio Cinema (Part One) —out now via Lost in Dreams.
I’ve had a great deal of musical success over the years with covers; and I thought, no better time to revisit my love of reimagining certain classics through the lens of Cinematic Bass
~ Danny Olson on Instagram
Olson said on Twitter that this project is a return to his roots. He hopes it will “deliver nostalgia in cinematic form.” It’s cinematic indeed. Olson released a short visualizer on his social media accounts, a beautiful imagination of what “Cinematic Bass” means. An aesthetic astronaut figure stands before an extraterrestrial landscape, planets and constellations looming beyond as shooting stars fall. The figure takes bold strides forward, holding a powerful stance to the tune of Olson’s electronic song worthy of a sci-fi film soundtrack.
In “Drops of Jupiter,” Olson uses original lyrics from Train while making the track something new of his own. The song’s melody will remind fans just what they loved about the poignant original while giving them a sense of awe of Olson’s electric talent.
But tell me, did you sail across the sun?
Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded
And that Heaven is overrated?
~ “Drops of Jupiter”
Olson starts off slow and silvery with an airy vibe before building to a powerful electric synth-filled sound, something we love to hear from this producer and DJ, who has hits like “Dreamer” and “Fix You” on his record. It combines the ethereal with something dance-worthy in ways previously unimaginable.
