d4vd, the 18-year-old singer-songwriter and music sensation, recently dropped his latest single, “My House Is Not A Home,” in March. The song, described as a poignant alternative ballad, explores themes of loneliness, departure from home, and the dissolution of strained relationships.

“My House Is Not A Home” is an introspective track about how I viewed my life after moving to Los Angeles – the themes of falling in love with the wrong person in the wrong place at the wrong time are explored throughout the song, and how I navigate those situations are in the lyrics.

In the single, d4vd showcases his talent for vivid storytelling and emotive lyricism. With an incredible vocal range that captivates listeners, he delivers a falsetto performance that leaves a lasting impact. The accompanying music video, directed by his close collaborator Raheem Powell, follows d4vd as he navigates through a desolate yet familiar space, haunted by remnants of his past. It has recently blown up due to RM of K-pop superstar group BTS posting a snippet of the video on his Instagram story.

This release follows d4vd’s previous two-pack single, “Withering,” which debuted February 2024. Featuring tracks like “Leave Her” and “2016,” the single highlighted d4vd’s versatility as he leaned into his pop-rock sensibilities. Garnering acclaim from outlets like Hypebeast, BET, and UPROXX, the release further solidified d4vd’s position as a rising star in the music scene.

d4vd’s career has been marked by a series of milestones and achievements. His breakout single, “Romantic Homicide,” surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, earning him widespread recognition. Praised by Variety for his ability to challenge norms and rewrite the rulebook, d4vd continues to push boundaries with his DIY approach to music-making.

David Burke, known by his stage name d4vd, unearthed his love for music during his formative years. Getting his start by uploading gaming footage to his YouTube channel, d4vd noticed his channel was receiving copyright strikes due to his use of licensed music. His mother suggested that he should use his own songs instead.

He transformed his sister’s closet in Houston, Texas into a makeshift recording studio. Immersed in a myriad of musical genres spanning rap, indie, and pop, Burke cultivated his skills through a journey of trial and error. d4vd’s love for anime and manga further explain his genre-bending sensibilities, giving a unique flair to his writing.

His epic career at such a young age is easily attributed to his unwavering commitment and inventive spirit, as evidenced by the global resonance of chart-toppers such as “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me.”

Looking ahead, d4vd shows no signs of slowing down. With upcoming performances at acclaimed festivals like Governor’s Ball, Bonnaroo, and Boston Calling, he is poised to captivate audiences with his electrifying live sets. As he continues to evolve as an artist and grow into his adult life, d4vd will undoubtedly continue pushing boundaries and inspiring listeners with his sound and narrative-driven approach.

“My House Is Not A Home” can be streamed on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. Tickets to his upcoming tour are selling out fast, but available venues can be found here.
