EDM Duo Crystal Skies has released their brand new single, “Heart’s Still Beating,” a collaboration with She Is Jules. The new track was released via Lost in Dreams, a label under Insomniac Events, who’s best known for putting on EDC in Las Vegas every year.
The American duo consists of Britain Holcomb and Aaron Dawson, coming together to create some of the most exciting dubstep tracks. Both Holcomb and Dawson have been producing music for years, originally attempting solo careers but ultimately deciding to work together after admiring each other’s work.
Crystal Skies has been releasing music since 2014 and has collaborated with many incredible artists, including Seven Lions and Au5. Their latest release, “Heart’s Still Beating” collaborates with She Is Jules (Julianna Pollifrone), best known for her vocals on Timmy Trumpet’s “Mad World,” amassing over 125 million streams to date.
This single follows the release of Crystal Skies’ debut album Not Since When, which was released early last year via Lost In Dreams. They’ve released multiple EPs since their debut back in 2014, including the Constellations EP that includes their hit single “Never Change” featuring Gallie Fisher.
Holcomb and Dawson began working on “Heart’s Still Beating” several years ago, wanting to recreate the sound of early dubstep that inspired the duo to start producing music in the first place. The song was then sent to She Is Jules and her co-writer Sam Bierman who wrote the lyrics for the melodic track. The pair wanted to write about taking a new romance and taking risks in love, reminding Jules of a moment she had with her partner.
“A few months ago, me and my friend, and co-writer, Sam Bierman, wrote this track for Crystal Skies. We immediately thought of the theme of taking a risk. So if you listen to the words, ‘If you wanna pull me closer / If you wanna open up that door / Give it all before it’s over / Because tomorrow’s not for sure,’ we thought that really encapsulated that idea of ‘if you’re gonna take a risk, do it now.’ Those lines remind me of a specific moment in my life, specifically my relationship.”
