Courtney Farren Debuts With Insightful Single “Care”

Released this month, “Care” is the debut single from artist Courtney Farren. The single comes from Farren working on releasing a new project of her own with production from herself, Brad Hale and Ethan Schneiderman.

Farren is an artist, songwriter and producer originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. She has spent the majority of her life on the road, playing solo shows in cities including New York, Paris, Dublin, Boston and now Los Angeles. In 2018, Farren decided to shift gears and moved to a remote village in Croatia to focus on her production and songwriting. Now, she is in Los Angeles taking sessions and working with artists such as Naomi Scott, Lexi Jayde, and Buck Betty.

“I wrote this song after feeling inundated by heavy news. I think younger generations have so much information at their fingertips that it’s become harder and harder to care.”

“Care” is beautiful in the manner that it does not shy away from a heavier topic. The song stays deep with lower tones, seen in both the smoothly delivered vocals and the creatively polished instrumental. Through the lyrics, Farren delves into how we live today, with constant access to the horrible things that are happening around the world all the time, and how many of us are becoming desensitized to it, struggling to ‘care’ anymore. Farren states that she is scared of herself becoming like this, mentioning that her “best friend is already there” and “they don’t have the time.” There is complete truth in this message, as social media is both many people’s news outlets and what they browse casually in their free time. This gorgeously intricate and artistic commentary is a pleasant listen and a good reminder of what to stay weary of, completely deserving of a spot on your more thoughtful playlists.

Courtney Farren can be followed for more on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
