Come on and “Turn Up The Sunshine” With Tame Impala and Diana Ross!

In April of 2022, Tame Impala released The Slow Rush B-Sides and Remixes following the success of the Grammy-nominated 2020 album, The Slow Rush. Tame Impala has been releasing records since 2008, but it was the addition of the 2020 album The Slow Rush that helped fuel a generation during the early stages of a global pandemic. There is quite frankly no limit to the reach of Tame Impala’s music, so the natural next step was to partner with Diana Ross.

Recognized for her success-filled solo career as well as being the lead singer of one of the most successful motown groups of all time (The Supremes), Diana Ross lends her signature vocal stylings to what is sure to be the most played song of the summer. “Turn Up The Sunshine” will be a part of the star-studded soundtrack for Illumination Studios’ highly anticipated Minions: Rise of Gru. While this writer hasn’t heard the rest of the track list for the movie soundtrack, it’s safe to say that they all pale in comparison to the feel-good, groovy disco beats of “Turn Up The Sunshine.”

“Turn Up The Sunshine” audio

The song’s premise is simple: “Let’s do it all around the world. We gotta turn up the sunshine, we gotta turn it up. Make it hard to lose like that.” With its heavy drums, funky bassline, and use of synths and brass instruments, the music behind “Turn Up The Sunshine” is the perfect vehicle for a light-hearted song about making the world a better place by turning up the sunshine in our daily lives. It’s most definitely the type of song you’ll put on repeat, and with Minions: Rise of Gru coming to theaters on July 1st, “Turn Up The Sunshine” will be pretty inescapable.

If more Tame Impala is something you’re craving, you can explore The Slow Rush and The Slow Rush B-Sides and Remixes. Maybe even consider purchasing the The Slow Rush Deluxe Box Set which features two transparent red LP’s, alternate artwork, a 40-page booklet, and The Slow Rush 2050 calendar. My idea of the perfect date? "That's a tough one. I'd have to say April 25th, because it's not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket." -Miss Congeniality
