Singer/Songwriter and Travel Blogger, Claire Hawkins, releases her newest track, “Small Doses.” The new single tells a different story than her previous EP. As it pokes at the cliches of romance, Hawkins sings with both clarity and undeniable gentle power that captures a listener’s attention beyond just her poetic expertise.
Claire Hawkins shares on writing the track,
“I’m not really one to write a love song. That’s just not where my interest typically lies as a songwriter. I’m fascinated with this idea of hook-up culture and the way it’s so prevalent among young people. I’ve particularly felt that, as a woman, there’s this tension around wanting to defy certain societal expectations, but worrying there’s a risk of losing myself in the process.”
Hawkins, a well-traveled and native New Yorker, manages to tailor her folk-pop sound to that of her upbringing and passion for writing. With her talent, she draws in each listener for a unique experience; this track illustrating the details of what it’s like to be a young adult still figuring it all out.
Claire Hawkins released her debut project, “Even These Words”, back in 2017. Since, the young artist has also presented the polished sophomore EP, “Foreign Voice,” and now, her single “Small Doses.” Although Hawkins is still a relatively new artist, her work paints a genre-defying picture that leaves listeners in anticipation for more to come.
