Chicago’s Own G Herbo Releases Music Video For “Drill”

On July 1st, “drill music pioneer and platinum-selling G Herbo” unveiled the music video for his track “Drill” featuring Rowdy Rebel! This new video comes out as a celebration of the anniversary of G Herbo’s 2021 album, 25. Released to widespread acclaim, 25 saw G Herbo hit the top five of the Billboard Top 200. Check out the video below, and read on!

“Merging drill influences from Chicago and New York, the menacing production underscores a raw lyrical crossfire between G Herbo and Rowdy Rebel. In the accompanying cinematic visual, these two rap titans turn up in New York City after dark. Taking over neighborhood bodegas and the streets surrounded by friends, rap legend Jim Jones pops in for a guest appearance. The video illuminates their chemistry on-screen and the undeniable power of this track—even a year since its release.”

The video is as dark as the song, and this synergy shows just how far G Herbo has come as an artist. “After quietly grinding for years out of his native Chicago, G Herbo established himself as not only a platinum-selling, chart-topping phenomenon, but also as a staunch mental health advocate and proponent for change in the black community.” In addition to his 2020 album PTSD, “he launched the Swervin’ Through Stress youth mental health program which was recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30.”

While “Drill” is not a track that is explicitly about mental health, G Herbo was also featured on Saba’s 2022 track “Survivor’s Guilt,” showing his commitment to using his art to champion social causes that are important to him. Check out that track below, and be sure to let us know what you think about “Drill!”
