A kindred spirit to the likes of Phoebe Bridgers and HAIM, Casey Dubie injects a sense of purpose and depth into her songs. With dreamy and ambient soundscapes, each song inlays their own sense of purpose and ease. Today, she launches her newest single, “Blue and Golden.”
The Burlington-raised, Nashville-based singer songwriter is gearing up for the release of Half-hearted, her sophomore album produced by Micah Tawlks (COIN, Liza Anne, The Brooke and The Bluff). The album was written a few months after the pandemic started, and helped Casey process both the world being on pause and the feelings that rear their head without the normalcy of daily life there to distract. From the seven song record, we leak a taste of what it will have to offer with “Blue and Golden.”
This single explores the duality we as people face, in all their forms. We all coexist with the different parts of ourselves, the darkness from within, the otherworldly and light. And though we cannot see them all clearly, this single helps us gain the sense of them all, in their conflict and beauty and makes the fragments whole and heavenly.
