Capitol Music Group announced their new partnership with Song House Live, a songwriting competition live-streamed 24/7 on YouTube that puts seven contestants together and tasks them with each writing a song about an assigned theme every week. Working in Song House Live’s upstate New York mansion on a 40-acre estate with multiple recording studios, the songwriters have to write, record, produce, and promote their work. Viewers vote on their favorite song from the week, with the winner being released to streaming services; all of the songs from the contest end up on the Song House Live compilation when the contest is over. The winner of earns an exclusive contract with Capitol Records.

The competition allows viewers to get a behind-the-scenes look at the song-making process of up-and-coming artists before their songs make it to streaming platforms and become hits. Said Capitol Music Group President and COO Michelle Jubelirer, “together with the Song House Live team, we’re able to meet fans where they consume music faster than ever by accelerating the traditional artist development process through this innovative concept.”

In addition to the continuous live stream on YouTube, Song House Live also frequently shares new content on other social media platforms, including TikTok and Instagram. The songwriters also share new content from their own accounts.

The current competition began last week, with participants Alec Chambers, Caroline Carr, Attis, Diego Fragnaud, Tyler Brash, Olivia Boeyink, and Klondike Blonde tasked with writing a song about a specific place, which they each selected by touching a map while blindfolded. Fans picked Californian Tyler Brash’s song “Thunder Bay,” inspired by Canada, and Atlanta singer-songwriter Olivia Boeyink’s “Dead Sea,” inspired by the salt lake between Israel and Jordan of the same name. Those two songs are both available on streaming services now.

The competition features production from GRAMMY-nominated producer Kato On The Track, whose extensive resume features collaborations with Joyner Lucas, Snoop Dogg, and Tory Lanez, among many others.

Song House Live will continue on YouTube and other platforms for the next six weeks.
