On November 16, multi-platinum-selling singer/songwriter Calum Scott shares the cinematic and soul-stirring video for his recent single, “Rise.” Directed by UK duo Franklin & Marchetta, who have collaborated with Calum previously before, the music video’s visuals complement the original song’s life-affirming message of discovering hidden strength in troubled times.

The captivating music video features the acclaimed British actor Georgia Hirst, who is best known for her role on the acclaimed historical drama, “Vikings.” According to Calum, the song “celebrates overcoming, defeating the odds, and prevailing despite the obstacles or the knock-backs you face along the way. We’ve all faced it during our lifetimes: feeling demotivated or uninspired, feeling like life is out to get you…I wanted to write a song that would empower people to chase down their dreams and to try to embrace life, no matter what they are going through or what their circumstances.”

The video is indeed a heart wrenching metaphor, symbolic of a sickness ridden journey towards relief, and the loved ones of the main character supporting her to the end. The visuals are a cathartic exploration of the lyrical intensity and vocal performance delivered by Calum in the original track.

U.K. based singer and songwriter Calum Scott first made his debut in 2018, when his first album Only Human landed in the number one spot on the iTunes album chart in over 20 countries around the world, amassing over 7.5 billion total global streams and counting. Over the last few years, his songs have appeared on countless TV shows (Including “American Idol” and “The Voice”), while Calum has performed on such shows as “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” “Good Morning America,” and others.
