BRUX’S NEW SINGLE “FOLLY OF THE BEAST” IS DANCE MUSIC’S WHITE WHALE

For there is no folly of the beast of the earth which is not infinitely outdone by the madness of men” – (Moby Dick) Herman Melville

It’s not every day we start off our articles with a quote from Moby Dick. But today is special as we introduce to you the rising star in the club music scene who just released her second self-produced track, inspired by precisely that quote. Any guesses who we are talking about? Yep, it’s BRUX with her brand new single “FOLLY OF THE BEAST”. It is the second club offering from BRUX’s forthcoming EP. The acid-infused, raving track has a bouncing bassline and mysterious vocal looping in and out of the track’s hooks.

“The foolishness of “man” is as relevant as ever with current news and affairs, in particular our climate situation. The lyrics “What is it you want? What do you need? How do you live? Live, for free?” are about me questioning myself, questioning the listener and questioning society. We come from the Earth yet we have this disconnection to it, thinking we’re superior and that we don’t need it…when in fact we do.”

BRUX

Who would have thought that the controversial book about a metaphorical white whale hunt that tortured us throughout eighth grade would make for such sick dance music inspo? BRUX created a deeply resonating beat that agitates with its high frequencies and gets your heart rate up for sure. The producer, singer, and overall talent face the audience with some serious existentialism as she questions the purpose of life.

“FOLLY OF THE BEAST” follows BRUX’s recent “BADBOI” release with Pat Lok. As the absolute badass she is, the Brooklyn-based artist took matters into her own hands to revolutionize the genre. No, quite literally. She styles her own shoots, creates her own merch, directs her own artwork, etc. Additionally, recent support from the web3 collectors of her BRUX NFT collection on Sound.xyz has allowed her to self-fund this single and forthcoming EP. And recently the Pat Lok remix of her release “Take” is featured on the EA SPORTS F1 22 game soundtrack. Talk about multi-talented, and in the meantime, I’m fighting to set up my new printer and finance my fancy hot chocolate addiction. (Drop a heart in the comments if you can relate <3)

In the past few weeks, BRUX has played supporting sets for artists including Deadmau5, Nero, Flying Lotus, and Zeds Dead; these co-sign signify strong stamps of approval from industry luminaries. Overall the BRUX sound is quirky, raw, and unapologetic – the music makes an intentional and loud statement in the scene. “FOLLY OF THE BEAST” is just a peek into the new era of music initiated by BRUX later this summer.
