Boslyk Bring in New Era With Single “Always Been You”

Bass House duo Boslyk have released their first single of the year, with “Always Been You” marking a new era for the artists. The song has the quintessential intense, almost cinematic building melody that the duo has become known for. Compared to their other previous tracks, “Always Been You” carries a certain intensity that really signifies Boslyk’s ever growing hold on the dubstep and bass house scene. While still staying true to some of their signatures, the duo is definitely exploring new realms with this single and is ready to show off what they’ve been working on.

Originally from Denver, Colorado, Andrew Wilkins and Ryan Chiasson have been making their presence known in bass house music since they opened with British DJ Ben Nicky in 2018. Since then, the two have been quickly making waves as the mononymous Boslyk, with Fortnite featuring their single “Better Off” in 2021.

The song opens with a very atmospheric, space-age sound that perfectly blends with the catchy vocals that Boslyk usually feature in their songs. Despite the relatively lyrical opening, it quickly crescendos into an intense house beat, continuing to weave between the two for the rest of the song. What makes this song, along with many others from the duo, is their ability to craft a cohesive story with their music that never feels repetitive — a common pitfall for other artists in the genre. Instead, Boslyk uses the intensity of their music to craft an emotional and exciting journey for listeners.

Under the production of Insomniac Records, “Always Been You” was a recipient of the label’s Discovery Project award. The award is given to select emerging artists on the EDM scene who are then given the opportunity to then perform at various Insomniac festivals and events. With this new exposure and the success of “Always Been You,” it is safe to say that Boslyk isn’t going anywhere soon.
